In 1998, our family purchased the house and its agricultural outbuildings, which were carefully restored over a period of four years, respecting their authenticity. The oldest visible part dates back to the end of the year 1000, presumably as a militar watchtower overlooking the valley. In 1306, it was listed as belonging to one of the first lay hospitals in Florence, named San Ghallo, now defunct, whose mission included caring for the weak and poor. It is also likely that it was part of the Florentine hotel charter of the 14th century, given its strategic location, which saw the structure as a branch of the Via Francigena, the Via Cassia, and the older etruscan road, Via Volterrana. Subsequently, various additions were added to the main tower, the last dating back to 1847, as can be seen in the cross vault in the living room of apartment D. At that time, it was a farmhouse belonging to the Fattoria di Linari. The farmers lived on the upper floor, while the stables were on the lower floor. The farmhouse is now at the heart of our small farm, whose 4 hectares produce IGP extra virgin olive oil and Chianti grapes with a controlled and guaranteed designation of origin (Docg). The Holiday house Linearis has six apartments, obtained by the walls of old farm, from old barn were derived the two apartments of Sertofano Farmhouse.
